Cycling Classes for Kids
In a cycling city like Basel, it is so important that children can learn to cycle safely and independently from a young age. In addition to balance and maneuvering, children need to learn the rules of the road and how to navigate their way through traffic to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
Pro Velo beider Basel offers 24 cycling courses for a comprehensive practical contribution to road safety in the region. The courses follow a uniform quality concept throughout Switzerland and are professionally managed.
- The A-Course is for children ages 6 and up accompanied by an adult, lasts 2.5 hours, and is held in a protected environment (not on neighborhood streets). The child will learn basic skills and preliminary exercises for driving in traffic, while the adult will receive some theoretical instruction.
- The B-course is for children age 7 and up accompanied by an adult on a bicycle and lasts 3 hours. At this course, you will learn traffic rules and correct behavior in traffic with practical exercises in traffic; you will start on a school yard before practicing in neighborhood streets.
- The C-course is for children ages 12 and up (as well as for adults). This course will include theory and practice as well as riding under special conditions like city traffic and darkness.
This year, classes are offered from April 18 through October 26 at various locations, so sign up your child now! You can find more information on locations, dates, times, and prices and sign up at https://fahrkurse.provelo-beiderbasel.ch/kinderkurse/.
