The exhibition invites visitors on a journey through Basel's culinary culture. It begins with the 1877 cookbook "Basler Kochschule" (Basel Cooking School) and continues through the city's culinary diversity—served up in thematic bites from the past and present. The exhibition tells the story of typical Basel specialties, the changing landscape of shopping opportunities, and the drastic food rationing during wartime. Alongside bourgeois eating and table manners and traditional recipes from old Basel, the exhibition also highlights Basel's food industry inventions and facets of today's gastronomy and food scene. A variety of accompanying events round off the culinary journey of discovery.
