The Stimmen (Voices) music festival has become the largest music event on the Upper Rhine, attracting an impressive array of international stars, soloists, and choirs, providing magical moments and musical experiences for young and old. From June 18 to July 11 this year, the festival will play a homage to the power and beauty of the human voice at various special venues in neighboring Germany.
This evening is for anyone who loves to be carried away by powerful voices and profound emotions. Under the title "Lips are silent, violins whisper," the Compagnia Nuova presents an operatic gala exploring the full spectrum of the repertoire, from passion and longing to exuberant joie de vivre. The program features well-known arias, duets, and ensembles from operas and operettas by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Wagner, Johann Strauss II, and Franz Lehár. From dramatic climaxes to lighthearted operetta moments, the program spans a wide range, uniting classics such as “La Traviata,” “Carmen,” “Die Fledermaus,” and “The Merry Widow.” The internationally acclaimed singers, accompanied by violin and piano, create an intimate, chamber music experience. This results in intense musical moments where every nuance is audible and the stories behind the famous melodies come vividly to life.
