VOLTA Kammermusikfest 2026 — Late Night: Forbidden Ritual

From October 23–25, 2026, VOLTA Kammermusikfest returns to the Voltahalle in Basel for its third edition. This year’s theme, “Litany,” explores repetition, ritual, and ecstasy through chamber music. Based in Basel’s St. Johann neighborhood, VOLTA Kammermusikfest creates intimate concert experiences with exceptional artists, that bring musicians and audiences into close proximity, combining familiar repertoire with new and unexpected works.
In this concert, percussionist Augustin Lipp and pianist Ryan Jung join forces in a new composition—a continuous and minimalist work that re-examines liturgical elements of spirituality through improvisation, reverberant acoustics, and electronics. “Forbidden Rituals” aims to break the separation between audience and performer by placing them directly inside the sound of the instruments, encompassing elements of ancestral storytelling traditions. In the purest sense, litany becomes the antiphon of breath and sound coming together.
Tickets are CHF 40 for adults, CHF 15 for students, and free for children up to age 16.
