Schumann at the Klara

You have no idea what an art song is, but you enjoy relaxed evenings and good music? Then you should come to “Schumann in der Klara,” the new format of the LIEDBasel festival. Between street food and drinks, you will learn that classical song offers something for everyone. LIEDBasel brings classical song, conceived in a very unclassical way.
A song lasts only a few minutes, requires a maximum of two people, and yet tells of situations and feelings we all know: of unguided conversation, of postponed farewells, of the quiet realization that catches us in the midst of everyday life. And where better to bring this idea to life than in KLARA—not a concert hall, but a place in the heart of Basel where music, enjoyment, and good company go hand in hand.
Inspired by Clara Schumann's pioneering spirit, the series focuses on the artistic role of female pianists. Accompanied by Els Biesemans on a historical keyboard instrument, one of the most acclaimed singers of our time, Julian Prégardien, presents Schubert's “Winterreise”—an evening that blends soirée and time travel, combining classical form with newfound freedom. The concert takes place in the lower level of the Klara Basel
Tickets are CHF 30, or CHF 10 for people up to 30 years old; if you choose to become a member of the LIEDBasel Friends Circle, tickets are free! Tickets can be reserved online and picked up at the box office by 18:45.
