Next week, temperatures in Basel are expected to climb above 32°C for at least three consecutive days. To protect the health of their public service workers and allow them to hopefully finish their physically demanding shifts by 14:00, before the greatest heat develops, the Department of Construction and Transport in Basel-Stadt once again will begin trash collection on those days earlier, at 05:00. Therefore, they are asking Basel residents to put out their trash bags (Bebbi bags), green waste, metal, cardboard, and paper, if possible, from 19:00 on the evening before the collection days, starting on Monday, August 11, and in the days following until at least Friday, August 15, 2025. To minimize noise disturbance of residents in the early morning hours, they will be using primarily the quiet electric garbage trucks for the early-morning pickups.
