Ballet — Cinderella

Musical Theater Basel
Friday, 21 November
18:30

The international company Grand International Classic Ballet dancers from France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and other European countries will present “Cinderella,” a fairy-tale ballet for adults and children.
With music by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography by Sergei Bobrov, the world-famous story about goodness and the triumph of love is familiar to every child and adult, and therefore it is especially valuable to see it in a magnificent performance by Grand International Classic Ballet with refined and beautiful neoclassical choreography created by Bobrov. Neoclassical ballet is inspired by the aesthetics of classical ballet and first appeared in the 1920s in the ballets of Sergei Diaghilev. “Cinderella” continues that tradition of the romantic fairy tale performance.
In the ballet, Prokofiev’s beautiful music reflects the magical fairy tale by Charles Perrault. The romantic story of Cinderella, who was turned into a maid by her evil stepmother and who, with the help of a kind fairy, found a well-deserved happy destiny, confirms that goodness, beauty, and love still triumph over all adversity. Lyrical waltzes and spectacular numbers, colorful dance extravaganza and truly magical atmosphere—this is what a choreographic embodiment of the famous fairy tale should be. Children gain faith in miracles, and adults become children again for a couple of hours. Even knowing that everything will end well, they count down with bated breath the 12 beats of the clock on the royal tower.
Tickets are CHF 61.50-131.90.
