For the 28th year, a very special “gift exchange” will be taking place in Basel to help children in need at Christmas time as well as protect the environment by cutting down on waste. To this end, children ages 3-10 are asked to donate at least two of their no-longer-needed toys in good condition in exchange for another toy of their choice. The children can bring their exchangeable toys to the Offene Kirche Elisabethen (Elisabethenstrasse 14 in Basel) on Wednesday, November 12, 19, and 26, as well as December 3 from 14:00-17:00. Toys can also be dropped off at the Basler Kindernäscht (Gerbergasse 14 in Basel) from Monday, November 10 to Saturday, December 6 (Monday to Friday from 8:00-16:00 and Saturday from 9:00-14:00).
When they bring in their two or more toys, the children will receive a coupon that they can then exchange for one toy of their choice on the exchange day. Exchange day takes place at Offene Kirche Elisabethen on Wednesday, December 10, from 14:00-16:00. Reserve about one hour’s time for your children to choose their toy and partake in the many Christmas crafts that will be offered on that day. All leftover toys will be donated to children in need.
