What happens when a young, internationally acclaimed accordionist meets one of Switzerland's most versatile big bands? The Intercity Jazz Orchestra found out—and the answer was an evening brimming with electrifying energy, musical curiosity, and pure joy of playing.
Swiss musician Anatole Muster, just 24 years old, has already made a name for himself with his innovative fusion of modern jazz, electronic textures, and virtuoso accordion playing. In collaboration with the Intercity Jazz Orchestra, a unique sound emerges: electronic impulses are translated into the analog world of the big band, merging with funk and groove elements to create a powerful experience that immediately captivates the audience. Most of the pieces have been written by Muster or members of the band—newly composed or rearranged specifically for this special encounter.
The Intercity Jazz Orchestra (ICJO) is a professional-level big band founded in 1978 that has steadily developed into the leading big band in Central Switzerland over the past 15 years under the direction of Andy Mattle. Since 2021, for six months each year, the ensemble has presented monthly concerts, each with its own program focus, at Südpol Luzern as part of its "Intercity Jazz Nights." The programs showcase a broad musical spectrum, ranging from Count Basie and Bob Brookmeyer to genre-crossing projects.
Tickets are CHF 32 (CHF 28 for students) in advance or CHF 37/32 at the door.
