In the Kostprobe series, the Basel Chamber Orchestra opens its rehearsals to the public, allowing them to observe the musicians at work with top-class soloists. You will be the first to hear exclusive excerpts from future CDs and concert tour programs. This concert program focuses on the theme of "water"—a vital element, but also a symbolic boundary or a mirror of our emotions. The imitation of nature has always been a source of inspiration for art and music—especially in the Baroque period. The aim was not always to achieve the most realistic representation possible, but often a symbolically charged, ambiguous interpretation.
In this rehearsal concert, you can observe soprano Julia Lezhneva and the Kammerorchester Basel at work. Arias by N.A. Porpora, L. Vinci, and R. Broschi will be rehearsed under the direction of concertmaster Dmitry Smirnov. The musicians will later perform the full program at the Tonhalle Zurich, Sentier, and the Musiktheater Linz.
The rehearsal lasts approximately 45 minutes. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to chat with musicians, soloists, and the office staff over soup and bread rolls.
