Project Agora 2026

PROJECT AGORA is a post-genre festival founded in Basel that is supported by the Verein Project Agora. Now in its fifth edition from April 17-19, the festival represents a new Basel platform that has been conceived to create a dialogue between people of all ages, backgrounds, and preferences through music and to broaden their perception by offering new sound experiences and bringing new acoustic experiences to life. PROJECT AGORA is a space in which the boundaries between different styles of music blur, creating new blends. New colors emerge for which we do not yet know names. They invite established as well as up-and-coming representatives of different genres and cultures to collaborate over a longer period of time and to create new works for the festival. The team of PROJECT AGORA aims to curate interesting encounters between artists that would not otherwise arise, and to connect Swiss musicians nationally and internationally. Each evening includes two or more performances.

Nik Bärtsch X Basel Nadeshiko Choir at 20:00: Nik Baertsch is a Swiss pianist, composer, bandleader, record producer, and author based in Zürich. His work is at the intersection of contemporary music, jazz and funk influences. For this concert, he has received a commission by PROJECT AGORA to write music for the Basel Nadeshiko Choir. Founded in 2011 and conducted by Akira Tachikawa, the choir is a Japanese women's ensemble whose aim is to bring Japanese songs closer to people from Western cultures.

NNAVY X Ako Amo at 21:45: NNAVY, whose real name is Florine Gshaza, is a Swiss soul and R&B singer and songwriter of Burundian descent. She was the first Swiss artist to produce her own episode for the renowned Colours Sessions, a milestone that underscored her international profile. She has performed on prestigious stages such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Cully Jazz Festival, and as an opening act for Lionel Richie. NNAVY is paired with Ako Amo, a composition and performance project by pianist Olivia Zaugg and electronic musician Maris Reck. What happens when piano and electronics meet as sonic equals, effortlessly shifting between accompaniment, solo moments, and complete fusion? These questions guided Ako Amo in the creation of their debut album. Early digital electronics, evocative piano sounds, piano processing, and sensitive sound design define their distinctive sound.

Advance tickets are CHF 23-32 for single evenings (CHF 26-35 at the door), or CHF 50 for a festival pass, which includes all concerts on all three evenings.
