After a 13-year hiatus, the Tower Run Basel is back! For the 11th time in Basel, this year in conjunction with the Health Expo, the ultimate stair run will take place at the Messe Basel, from the Messeplatz up the stairwell of the Messeturm to the Bar Rouge at the top. The Tower Run Basel stands for exercise and sport, health and wellness, but despite its competitive element, the main goal is fun and enjoyment.
Participants can expect a 105-meter elevation gain, 31 floors, and 542 steps—a vertical sprint that demands strength, endurance, and mental fortitude. Whether ambitious solo runners, firefighter teams in full gear, or stair-climbing novices: the Towerrun Basel is open to everyone who wants to take on the challenge. The race is part of the Towerrunning World Series and therefore counts towards the international ranking. Besides the athletic performance, the focus is on fun and the unique atmosphere. There are different categories for participants ages 12-99, including individual runners in the category kids (free), adults (CHF 50), and elite runners (CHF 80); mixed teams of two runners (CHF 100); companies’ mixed teams of two to four runners (CHF 120); mixed teams of four firefighters (CHF 100); and new this year, police individuals (CHF 50) or two-person teams (CHF 100). The starting area is located in front of the Messeturm, and the starting route to the entrance is the hero's route where supporters, spectators, and racing enthusiasts will cheer participants on before the climb. After the first sprint, it's up 542 steps before the finish line awaits on the 31st floor, in the Bar Rouge. Once participants reach the top, they'll immediately see their race time. They can enjoy a refreshment and a few seconds of rest before taking the elevator back down. All participants are invited to the after-Tower Run party at the Bar Rouge, starting at 17:30.
