Since 2005, VOLTA Basel has been a powerhouse, supporting new, ambitious galleries to enter one of the international art market capitals. For this 20th anniversary edition, Volta will be presenting an expanded lineup of over 70 galleries from 29 countries, including Switzerland, France, Norway, South Africa, United States, Czech Republic, Belgium, and Germany. Along with this growth and expansion, Volta will be located in a new venue, right across from Art Basel in Hall 4.U of the Messeplatz. A meeting point for art collectors seeking fresh and captivating narratives in the emerging contemporary market, VOLTA invites you to discover artistic talent and build meaningful connections with gallerists and artists alike.
As a globally recognized contemporary art fair, VOLTA powers artistic discovery. The fair presents the Art of Now and offers art enthusiasts and collectors an opportunity to discover and connect with international artists and their stories. With VOLTA, art enthusiasts can collect art that boldly resonates with the changing world that we live in. This year, VOLTA Basel introduces the MENA Pavilion, a dedicated exhibition spotlighting galleries from the Middle East and North Africa, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, and Lebanon. While some make their European debut, others return with a fresh insight. Curated by Beirut-based writer and curator Randa Sadaka, the Pavilion highlights artistic perspectives from the region.
In honor of its 20th anniversary, this 2025 edition of the VOLTA fair seeks to honor the city of Basel. On Friday, June 20, from 11:00-16:00, Basel residents are invited to experience VOLTA with complimentary access as a gesture of appreciation for the city's long-standing support of the fair. This special initiative invites the local community to explore and collect a diverse range of contemporary art from around the world, discover local and international galleries, and connect with artists and curators. If you are a resident of Basel, you can book your complimentary ticket “Liebs Basel, viele Dangg, Volta” online.
Tickets can be purchased on site or online. Regular-priced day-tickets are CHF 20, fair-passes are CHF 30, and VIP fair-passes with Wednesday-preview are CHF 60. Evening passes (after 17:00 on Thursday or Friday) are also available for CHF 20.
