District Five
There can be many reasons for starting a band. Perhaps it is the desire to find a common language. One that can be more intimate, poetic, precise, or vague. One that evolves, just like those who speak it. Shaped by encounters, always in the making. This is the case for the four-person Zürich band District Five and its members Vojko Huter, Paul Amereller, Tapiwa Svosve, and Xaver Rüegg: for over 10 years, the multi-instrumentalists have been meeting in the rehearsal room and beyond, reflecting themselves, their friendship, their influences, and experiences in their music. The result is a work that is constantly in motion. Sometimes closer to jazz, sometimes closer to pop, sometimes far away from it, but always close to itself. The band gives the friends the ability to act, which could also be described as agency: to reflect on and shape what we call life.
Tickets are CHF 20 in advance and CHF 23 at the door.
