“Detroit Groove” — Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

Anyone who hears this band inevitably thinks of a trio that shaped Memphis Soul in the 1960s and recorded the big hits for Otis Redding, Stax Records, and others: Booker T. & The M.G.'s. Delvon Lamarr plays the Hammond B-3 no less funky than Booker T. Jones, and guitarist Jimmy James plays the guitar licks just as sharply as Steve Cropper. They create feel-good music in the best sense of the word—jazzy, funky, and just plain cool. The band around Lamarr plays their 60s/70s vintage soul with such incredible power and enthusiasm that you are inevitably carried away. With deep soul, complemented by jazz, rhythm 'n' blues, and rock, Lamarr and his bandmates create classic instrumental sound with an extremely fresh and virtuoso twist that goes straight to the legs!
