Limón Dance Company — 75th Year Anniversary
José Limón is considered one of the most important representatives of modern dance. Unlike classical ballet, this style of dance focuses on the naturalness of movement and the skillful play with gravity. In 1946, Limón founded his own dance company, which keeps the work of its founder alive in celebrated performances all over the world, even after his premature death from cancer in 1972. The company’s 75th birthday should have been celebrated in 2021, but due to the pandemic, it will only be celebrated two years later—with a program that brings together some of Limón's most impressive creations, including a homage to his teacher and company co-founder Doris Humphrey. It is complemented by two more recent works by Kate Weare and Chafin Seymour. The company thus shows that, with all due respect for the legacy of its founder, it also strives to create something new.
Tickets are € 39-56 for adults and € 12 for youths.
