Scandanavian Winter — Iiro Rantala Solo; Ida Sand Duet

"Intelligence, humor, a lot of sentiment, unpredictable ideas, and the finest piano craftsmanship" (FAZ)—the Finnish pianist Iiro Rantala is "a natural phenomenon on the keys" (Jazz Thing). His ACT debut album "Lost Heroes" marked a turning point in his music: where previously wild, unbridled exuberance reigned, Rantala today seeks and finds the power of melody, harmony, and deep emotion. But his humor flashes through again and again. And his outstanding, classically trained piano craftsmanship is also convincing all round.
The Swedish singer Ida Sand never denied her soft spot for soul, blues, and gospel. With her roughened intonation, which gives even the biggest gestures a gentle shimmer of sweet casualness, she not only orients herself towards female role models. She likes to refer to Stevie Wonder, for example, but also feels at home in songs by Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, and Bob Marley. It doesn't matter whether it's originals or cover versions of well-known standards from pop and jazz, the Swede makes every song something special.
Tickets are CHF 25.90-80.90.
